Khonversation Piece is certainly 'something to talk about'. A very RARE maximum bay sabino who was born white, and the only one of his kind on the East Coast! I know, you are asking yourself, " How can he be bay? He looks white to me." Ahhhh...let me explain. Sabino is the only color gene found within the purebred arabian. Typically the sabino gene is expressed as a bald face, high stockings and/or belly spots. Other individual horses can be found that have detached leg white markings and white markings on the body that make them look very similar to a overo. In the most maximum form the sabino is born almost entirely white. Basically the body is covered with one huge white spot with underlying pink skin. This is not to be confused with albino. Maximum sabinos ARE NOT albino and can be found in other breeds like TB's. They are also not to be confused with grey horses who are born either chestnut, bay, or black and eventually turn grey with age. A grey will always have dark skin and must have at least one grey parent in order to turn grey. In Khonversation Piece's case, he is a 2nd generation maximum bay sabino. His sire, R Khasper, is also a maximum bay sabino. While the maximum sabino is the rarest of the sabino patterns, it is surely here to stay and is free of the lethal overo gene. I was very fortunate to have Conman for almost a year, he is the sweetest boy.
